Instead of hemming and hawing (which, by the way, is a term now in my vocabulary, thanks to my new job in West Virginia) I'm just going to jump right in.
There is no difference between Sierra Mist and Sprite. Like, none. At all. Whatsoever. I think if you'd blindfolded me and made me try them both I wouldn't have even known they were different. Not even a little bit.
7UP, on the other hand, was full of all kinds of weirdness. First of all, it doesn't claim to be "lemon-lime soda" like the others. It doesn't claim a citrus flavor or even a fruity finish. It just says it's "crisp" and "refreshing," which is super helpful considering all those sodas on the market that advertise themselves as "flat" and "icky."
We couldn't quite put our finger on what was wrong with 7UP, just that it was gross and that we didn't like it.
Moving on, we polished off a good amount of Sierra Mist and Sprite trying to come up with some grand revelation that would prove a true winner of the beverage game.
There wasn't one.
All I can tell you for sure is that the Sprite bubbles were bigger than the Sierra Mist bubbles, and really, I've never heard of anybody buying soda based on bubble size, so I'm pretty sure that's useless information.
Since there was no apparent winner based on flavor, we turned to nutrition labels to solve our dilemma. As it turns out, Sierra Mist registers lower sodium and lower carbs than Sprite, plus it's made with real sugar. No, seriously, like, REAL sugar. You know, that white sandy stuff we used before we discovered we could squeeze health hazards out of corn and use that to sweeten shit. Despite it's lack of a unique flavor, Sierra Mist obviously wins for its less menacing list of ingredients.
Pepsi: 2, Coke 0.
What's your favorite soft drink?
*sigh* sorry, but as an Atlantan, I have to vehemently disagree with your conclusions.
ReplyDeleteHow can you possibly disagree with these highly scientific findings?????
DeleteBecause its all opinion based.
Delete7UP IS GOOD LIKE WTF ITS THE SAME THING AS SIARA MIST AND SPRITE SO JUST WOW THEY ALL TASTE THE SAME TO ME
DeleteSo were just going to ignore that the person reviewing this claims 7UP doesn't claim to be lemon lime, even with the giant lemon and lime wedges so clearly placed on its front.
DeleteI’m literally looking at a can of 7up right now. It says Lemon Lime Flavored Soda clearly on the can.
DeleteSprite is far better than Sierra Mist. However, Mist doesn't have high fructose corn syrup.
Deleteyea! sprite sells WAY better too!
Deleteok but like, who cares though, Oh no! he said seven up was bad... dude, why are you mad at that
Delete7up = Sprite
DeleteSprite or 7up < Mist
7up
DeleteBlahhhh I just like plain old cold club soda! The rest are just really too sweet for me and totally not worth the calories!
ReplyDeleteThrow in some vodka and lime and you've got yourself a deal!
Deletei want some
Delete7-up has a stronger lemon flavor, sprite has a strong lime flavor. 7-up has more carbonation than sprite. Sierra mist is more like sprite meaning more on the lime flavor but Sierra mist has more carbonation than sprite. I've been drinking all three for many many years. Sprite is my top pick, Sierra mist 2nd and 3rd 7-up.
ReplyDeleteYou are quite the soda connoisseur! But I absolutely agree about the carbonation factor. Amazing the difference a little extra air makes!
DeleteI never thought I would like a soda better than 7up but I just love Sierra Mist.
DeleteSierra Mist has a nasty after taste. It also tastes like sprite if it lost most of it's carbon bubbles. Sprite is too 'sour' and has a load of that high fructose corn syrup. 7up is just right for me.
ReplyDeleteActually i have to agree with this guy 7up is better and sierra mist is kinda nasty but sprite is good too but 7up is better.
DeleteI disagree
DeleteWho won ??
ReplyDeleteWho won ??
ReplyDeleteIf a recipe for a biscuits calls for 7up, could I substitute it for the other two lemon lime sodas?
ReplyDeleteI've noticed somethu ng interesting. The sierra mist in my hometown(somewhat ruralish) tastes better than sprite and 7up but when I get sierra mist at school (hour away in big city) the sierra mist takes awful. One of the older folks at home said they used to have the same issue with sundrop. They claimed the taste issue depended on the water being used.
ReplyDeleteI agree 7up is the best I just drank one that’s why I’m here because in my town it’s hard to find 7up and now I remember why I use to drink 7up over sprite any day of the week and I’m not even going to mention the other name yuck that after taste is awful
ReplyDeleteNope...Sierra Mist is the best!
DeleteYou should never offer your opinion about food and beverage. Seriously, you can't tell the difference between Sierra Mist and Sprite, wow, just amazing! I like Sprite a lot, 7up is different but very good as well. If Sprite and 7up are in the 9 range (out of 10) Sierra Mist is 0-1, its just horrible. The best ever was Slice, I'd rate a 10, actually had real juice.
ReplyDeleteWhat a miserable, shitty remark to make. "I disagree with your subjective opinion, therefore, I believe you should never offer your opinion again". What a sack of shit.
DeleteYeah I have to agree with the comment above. I love Sprite, I drink it every day. I can deal with 7 Up if for some reason Sprite isn't available, but it definitely tastes different. It's not bad at all I just much prefer Sprite. Sierra Mist, however, is disgusting. To me it tastes NOTHING like Sprite. I tried it once and couldn't even finish the bottle, it was just a very unpleasant tasting drink. So yeah, definitely Sprite for me.
ReplyDeleteSierra Mist gives me a headache with one drink. I had caught the mistake every time a restaurant says they have sprite. You can definitely tell a difference.
ReplyDelete7up is old school.I used to drink it from out of the glass bottle.A long time favorite of mine
ReplyDeleteSierra Mist is trash.

My mom used to make me drink 7 up when I was sick I don't know why but I haven't drink 7 up sprite or Sierra mist as an adult until recently I tried all 3 and I like sprite the best but reading all these comments I see that 7 up is better for me so I mite switch to 7 up
ReplyDeleteeven after i read this i still disagree, Ketchup is a way better drink than any off these1
ReplyDeleteugaa bugga
ReplyDelete1 huge difference between them all.....both Sprite and 7Up sweeten via HFCS or High Fructose Corn Syrup (poison) and Sierra Mist uses all natural sugar ;) I avoid HFCS at all costs. Sierra Mist FTW.
ReplyDeleteThey all 3 taste the same to me. Sprite is my favorite pop though.
ReplyDeleteSprite is syrupy, 7up taste like fruit loops, and Sierra mist taste like if someone threw a lemon into seltzer water.
